I'm increasingly concerned about Al Franken's stunts in trying to capture the Senate seat in Minnesota. Al, who jokingly named the 1980s "The Al Franken Decade," seems to believe that his celebrity status entitles him to being a Senator. (So does Caroline Kennedy, for that matter.) The United States, at all levels of government, needs to establish standards and procedures which prevent ambitious candidates - no matter the party - from stealing elections by engineering the outcome of "recounts." I'm not against absentee voting at this point, but clearly there have been some major scandals in voter registration in 2008. This nation needs to reconsider its fascination with fairness, as most things, carried too far, will backfire on you. People being allowed to vote without being properly registered, without being smart enough to arrive at the correct polling place and without identification in hand all open the floodgates for illegal votes. I favor the requirement of picture identification in order to vote. Ann Coulter has been focusing on this issue in her columns 1 plus 1 equals 20 extra votes for Franken, Minnesota ballots: Land of 10,000 fakes and The cleanest state meets the pushiest person.
I'm a Republican (although I'd be a Libertarian if they could ever get elected). Whatever. Although I don't like it too much, Democrats often win elections, fair and square. You win some... you lose some. I just want the outcome of every election to be honest and correct. The party that loses will get another chance two, four or six years later. Hopefully every outcome will represent the votes cast.

Catch my friends, Raubin Pierce and Megan Mosack, Monday to Friday on their talk show, On the Other Hand, on the 5,000-watt Voice of Kansas, WIBW. They're not afraid to challenge and question public figures, and they're making a difference with their show. Raubin's a K-Stater, and Megan's married to one. (She grew up in Ohio). Listen to their show but, no matter how much he begs and pleads, don't let Raubin drive the Royals bus. Check out their Web site and their new blog.
Megan Mosack appeared on The O'Reilly Factor on November 6 to address the huge contributions of abortion doctor Tiller to the Paul Morrison campaign. She did a great job of making the case, and I predict we'll be seeing her again on the Factor. Here's a QuickTime 7 movie (11 MB) of her appearance.
